Was established in
February 1982, started from the Bougainvillea, Caladium and Fern.
In 1992 we added plants in Zingiberaceae into our list with the
emphasis on Genus Curcuma in which Curcuma Alismatifolia was the first
species to be produced commercially for the local market. Apart
from Curcuma, several species of Globba have also been produced.
Ubonrat Nursery started to produce Curcuma's corms in 1993.
Ubonrat Nursery is the first nursery to realize the importance of
the production hygiene. Solarization is used to sterilize planting
medium. |

This method is also assumed to be helpful for healthy environment. The planted corms are from the mother plants area and are planted
in pots. With these methods we ensure the high quality corms.
Ubonrat
Nursery also emphasizes the postharvest treatment. The harvested
corms are sorted according to size, unhealthy corms are discarded.
The selected ones are dipped in the fungicide and bactericide solution.
Curcuma Corms produced by Ubonrat Nursery are well known to give a good
yield and high quality product both as cut flowers and pot plants.
Ubonrat could pass the lab test for free from diseases only one in Thailand. |

Plants in genus curcuma are native to Thailand , Laos , Myanmar and Cambodia. Genus curcuma is one of 29 genus in Zingiberaceae family, there are 29 genus in this family. In Thailand species of curcuma can be observed all over the country from the sea level in the south to mountainous area in the north.
Their habitats are also varied in the environmental condition. Their natural life cycle begins from the germination of the rhizome at the end of their dormancy period. In Thailand, this period coincide with the beginning of the rainy season (April or May). |
The vegetative period will take about 2 months after that they will start to flower. There are a few species of curcuma which flower before the growth period. The beautiful parts of curcuma are the bracts, the true flowers are small and will emerge from each bract , the number varies from 2-4, depending on the varieties. The phyllotaxy of the bracts and bracts color also vary with variety. |
